Welcome to Kaiapoi Family Doctors

We are a family practice proudly serving the community since 2004. Our team of experienced medical and health professionals are passionate about the health of our community.


We are here to assist with your health needs and provide you and your family with a high standard of care. We provide a comprehensive range of General Practice services, supported by Podiatry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Dietician, Counselling and Dentist on site. We offer a friendly and supportive environment. 


Our Health Centre is easily accessible, with off-street parking and wheelchair access. Our aim is to enable people to maintain health, independence and wellness within their own community.

    • FREE Doctor visits for all enrolled patients under 14 years of age 
    • FREE ACC visits for all enrolled and casual patients under 14 years of age 
    • FREE Child immunisations

  • 15/1/26  Upcoming Change to Prescription Lengths - You may have heard the plan by the government to allow doctors and nurse prescribers to supply prescriptions for up to 12 months. It is expected to commerce in February 2026, although there is more clarity needed. When it begins, GPs and prescribers will be able to issue prescriptions for up to 12 months (instead of 3 months), if it's clinically safe and appropriate. You'll still collect your medication from the pharmacy every 3 months but may not need to return to us each time for a new prescription. This change is aimed at patients who have stable long-term medical conditions, however, many long-term medical conditions will still require more frequent review. We will discuss your individual needs with you. We will update the website as more information becomes available.


  • 28/10/25   Cervical Smear - Self swab as well as traditional cervical screening is now available. This service is currently free for Maori & Pacific woman, Community Service Card holders and under screened woman age 30-69. Please book with the nurse.


  • 28/10/25   If you were diagnosed with diabetes (especially type 2), please book with the nursing team to have your Free annual diabetes check, you will get a reminder every year before the due date as well.


  • 28/10/25   We are providing FREE COPD annual review for all our COPD patients, the nurse will go through a check list to make sure you are receiving the most appropriate treatment for your condition - Book in now to see our nurse Tracey.


  • 07/07/25   Fees will be increasing on the 8th of July 2025.


  • 18/03/25    We are providing COVID vaccines at the surgery. All walk ins (enrolled) are welcome.


  • 03/02/25    Dr Ussher is providing Virtual Clinics on Wednesdays.
