Family Health

It's vital to support the health of your entire family unit.

We assist everyone from new born babies through to older teenagers, as well as providing services which support mums, dads and other carers.

Our family health services protect and support your wellbeing.

Naturally, we're here if any of you are unwell but there are also many other ways we can support your family.

Enrolled children under 14 are eligible for free weekday GP services.

How can we help your family?

Whether you're about to start your family or you've just moved into the area, we have a wide range of convenient services.

If you are trying to have a baby or even just thinking about it, it is important to start getting ready for pregnancy.

Our nurses and doctors will speak with you about important factors like:

  • Medical Conditions / Medication
  • Lifestyle + Behaviour
  • Vaccinations.

Once you are pregnant, we can help you find a Lead Maternity Carer (LMC). An LMC can be a self-employed midwife, hospital employed midwives or a private obstetrician.

We can work with your LMC during your pregnancy and offer care for your entire whānau.

Maternity care is free for women in their first trimester (12 Weeks). If you are pregnant and need to see a doctor at any stage during your pregnancy, there is no charge provided the illness is pregnancy related and you have a referral from an LMC.

Child immunisation is FREE.

Immunisation protects you and your child(ren) from serious diseases throughout life.

The Ministry of Health supports immunisation. However, it is your choice whether or not to immunise your child.

The New Zealand National Immunisation Schedule is a series of immunisations (including boosters) given at specific times between the ages of six weeks and twelve years. To get the best possible protection, have the immunisations on time, every time.

Immunisation is FREE for children under 12 years and can be carried out at our practice. Make an appointment today.

Sexual health is important at every age.

Young people may need more support and guidance.

Our sexual health team can confidentially assist with:

  • Sexual health and safe sex advice
  • Contraception, including emergency contraception (“the Morning After Pill”)
  • Relationship Issues
  • Pregnancy testing and advice
  • Testing and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs)
  • HPV vaccination to protect against cervical, penile and throat cancers
  • Cervical smears.

Our team is here to support you or your young person.
